Merstone is centrally located on the Island and on a main bus route to Shanklin, Sandown, Ventnor, Ryde and Newport. There are fishing lakes and the popular Red Squirrel Cycle Trail nearby as well as easy access to numerous walks and trails, including the Yar River Trail and the Stenbury Trail.
